GLORIOUS DESTINY
At the dilemma of
despondency
When all hope is seem
To be lost
The glorious destiny
surfaced
Inevitable decision
Has plundered the young
lad
Perambulating like Muslim
guinea
Instead of blessing to
humanity
I hear the adore of songs
The melodious numbers
Like the spiritual angelic
voice
In the Island of
righteousness
Who can bring
The steady mood of a saint
I praise the Idea of the
almighty
Creating man as though
they were nothing
Oh! God of justice
Upon the castigation of
people
Towards an innocent lad
That became a victim of
human influence
That nearly sent him to
untimely death
Can the gods intervene?
Yes, but highly limited
Except the almighty does
There is no hope for the
lad
As the heavens roar
And the sun cries
To Almighty
Who kills and makes alive
To come for the justice
Of our dear virgin
UZODIMMA
The golden son
Who wants to murder
For nature’s sake
God of mercy
Intervene!
For the glorious destiny
has surfaced
Wipe his tears
And bless with Joy against
sorrow
We
praise you Adonai
For
your wonderful work
Towards
the sons of men
Adiu
Baba! God

DESCRIPTION: The poem glorious destiny is an African poem that
describes a lad who has an ugly experience in life. But without knowing that
those ugly experiences were a stepping stone to his glorious destiny after he
had emerged a victory in the hurdles. A glorious destiny is a destiny that
blesses humanity with God’s gift and tends to give positive change in the
society.
From line 1-4: The
poet expressed the amazement of people when changes takes place in the life of
this young lad who had exceed some certain age without change. It was like a
dream to people and an mouth opening shock of miracle to spectators and mockers
because it happened so sudden when all hope is gone that the lad could not
amount to anything in life. But in the
midst of depression and agony a dramatic change surfaced that threw confusion
to his enemies.
From line 5-8: The poet begins to narrate the lad’s ugly experiences
that made him look like a mad man in the society and walk up and down the
street of the city in search of solution to an unknown problem. The poet
described his action as “Perambulating like
a Muslim Guinea” instead of bringing peace to the community; he was causing
terrible havoc everywhere he goes.
From line 9-12: The poet
expresses his feeling towards this lad’s experience compared to what he passed
through in life. According to the Poet he senses victory on God’s side towards
this lad’s ugly experience and he said that he is hearing adoration praises to
God and melodious hymn numbers using a figure of speech called “simile” which uses “like” and “as” as comparison to describe how the songs of praises are like
spiritual angelic voices that sinks
in the poet spirit mind like a tune from spiritual world known as an Island of righteousness.
From line 13-16: The poet still continue to express his feelings with
rhetoric questions by asking who can state the greatness of God as a standard
for people to learn and understand? Especially, the unfading fame of his saints
towards the world; the poet begins to praise God who created man as though they
were nothing but something to glory about for wonderful wisdom.
From line 17-20: The still continues to express concern over the ugly
experience of this innocent lad whom different people slandered, backbite and
gossiped for the offenses he was found not guilty. The poet also let us knows
that the lad became a victim of human influence out of ignorant of the situation.
From line 21-24: The poet said that these ugly experiences nearly send
him untimely to grave yard. And begin to use rhetoric questions to bring the
god’s intervention which the poet still provides the answer that the gods can intervene
but the Lad was helpless because of the wicked forces of his enemies that
surrounds him. That, the solution is Divine which demands the attention of
Almighty God through his Son Jesus Christ; the poet trying to express that
situation like this have the Almighty God as the key solution, not even the
gods of the land which are powerless and
limited and being the base trust of
Africans.
From line 25-28: The poet continues with the Lad’s ugly experiences at
the point of no hope, to the extent that the nature began to fight and defend
the lad who was innocent of every accusation. Using a figure of speech know as personification to establish this fact
by giving human quality to an inanimate creation like “heavens roar” and “the sun
cries” meaning the nature were fighting for the Lad by asking God for mercy.
From line 29-32: The poet continues with the expression of the nature’s
dismay to God concerning the great Almighty God that can kill and sustain life
as well as to intervene in this critical condition of the Lad named UZODIMMA.
From line 33-36: The poet described
him as the golden son who wants to
take his own life untimely because of predictable and unavoidable nature God
has placed him. The poet continues to ask God for mercy
From line 37-40: The poet continues with asking God’s intervention
because his glorious destiny has surfaced out of the calamity and life’s ugly
experience. The poet trying to teach people that the trial of life is the
refinery of human nature, until you pass through the furnace of affliction the
best in you may not surface. Gold went in to firing furnace to make it strong
and beautiful. So is glorious destiny. The poet continues to ask God to make a
way with the glorious destiny and wipe away his tears of suffering which will be
definite as the poet specified.
From line 41-44: The poet continues to attribute glory and praises to
God for this wonderful exploit toward his own creature especially the sons of
men using the African way of greetings “Adieu Baba” to qualify thanking God.
