THE KING

Stupendous Stupor
Is the adornment of the King
Isolation Indeed
The price of great men

I fashion the dignity
To select the king’s choice
But Perambulating
Cannot solve any Issue

Relating to King’s adornment
Do Kings bite?
Yes they do
When justice is twisted

But in a moody state
Blessing the poor
And selecting the best
Who can tell the king’s mind?

An Iroko tree of the land
The corner stone of the people
Sheltered one
Great in power

The King is bright
Steady in sorrow
But can favor the less privileged
The King is one

In mind and purity
In blessing and curses
The king is great and mighty
The King is one

DESCRIPTION: The poem is all about Kingship, a king domain is his priority. A king can joke with anything but not when His supremacy is taken from him. Every king guards this judiciously so that he can last in his throne. This is one of the primary factors that makes the king feels belonging and accepted by his people.

From line 1-4 the poet describe the state of foolish act as a way to restore the king’s dignity or supremacy, relating this to the biblical account of David and King Soul, when God rejected Soul as a King, His supremacy as a king left him and transferred to David. He noticed what happened and as a result he agitates against David; employing different strategies of craftiness against David so that he can restore the supremacy of his throne, but to no avail because God was involved. He went at length to set different trap for David to misbehave so that the kingship will be taken from him back to his throne but the bible recorded that David behaved himself wisely. Then stupendous stupor according to the poet is like instigated behavior that one commit unconsciously commits using it to describe that it is the act that restores a king to his throne.

On the other hand, using Isolation to describe the price a king pays to assume that position of Kingship, remember that David was in the bush for 13 year when he was hiding from King Soul. He was Isolated, while staying with prophets until the appointed time. Those periods in Isolation contributes to the price that paid for before being a King.

From line 5-8 the poet also is trying to let us understand that to be a king is not an easy task, they went through hell, which made them protect their image first before any other issue. Trying to let us know that moving from place to place in search of solution is not the quality of a king. A king must separate himself countless a time to sort out issues with the supernatural powers which Jesus also exhibited during his forty days and forty Nights in the wilderness. There must be a time for separation or isolation for everyone, hoping to occupy position of Kingship to hear from the supernatural. This is why you cannot deceive a king, unless a wicked King likes King Ahab and Jezebel his wife. Whom God decided to destroy in a war when he caused his prophet to prophesy illusion to him;

From line 9-12 The poet tries to let us know that every king in ruler ship cannot condone indiscipline and corruption which negate his throne. The King must always fight injustice and promote justice for the security of his jurisdiction. The bible said in the book of proverb that when you remove wicked personality from a king his throne will be established in righteousness. So the king will not relent to punish offenders as well as those that oppose his throne.

From line 13 -16 is describing the compassionate state of a king, A king’s favor can turn your situation around in a seconds, ask Joseph when he was promoted in Egypt and ask Daniel when he was promoted in Babylon after being saved from the lion’s Den. The same is applicable on our lord Jesus Christ when He performed series of miracle out of compassion. Feeding 5000 persons with five loaves of bread and two fishes, so the heart of a king is in the hand of the lord (proverb 21:1);

From line 17-20 The poet begins to praise the King by describing him with some basic qualification of adornment that deserved a king.

From line 21-24 still repeats the compassionate nature of a king, who will always show mercy and give out to the needy ones.

Line 25 – 28 describes the strong will of a king; the king’s order is the final word. Where there is the words of a king, there is power. Every king’s words commands authority. Whether good or bad instruction; the king’s word is the final bus stop of your destiny. When you go contrary, you are endangering your life.
