PREMIERSHIP FOR CRUDE OIL
A mighty adores!
Blaring on top his voice
“Ukeme in the City”
Contesting for the premiership”
Fortified personnel
Glorying in the town
For the premiership
I forgot to stop over
And bless the steps
Of these mighty men
In grand styles
Of treasure base of the
nation
Rivers State!
Your people are always
different
In action and contest
In dominion and creativity
I salute your precious
diamond
The men of value!
Product of saturated
environment
Refined in the furnace
Of survival of the fittest
Can goals be set?
Can action be taken?
And success achieved?
Ask an Eleme refinery
worker
Seasoned champions
Tracing the deal
To the root of discovery
The oil league divers
The professional sea
explorers
Managing the economy of
the nation

DESCRIPTION: The poem PREMIERSHIP
FOR CRUDE OIL is an African poem based on the Crude oil exploration
leadership. The poem’s setting centers on Port Harcourt city, the capital of
Rivers state in Nigeria, being the treasure base of the nation’s economy where
crude oil is discovered by geologist and miners as the main natural mineral resources
of the nation; the state is blessed with the needed natural mineral resources;
which other nations of the world are in need for Automobile sustenance.
From line 1-4: The Poet describes
the manner people are campaigning for vote in the city. The propaganda and
allegation of who will win the leadership for exploration of Crude oil
production in Eleme refinery Port Harcourt which has become the political thug
of war among the contestants. Ukeme is one of the candidates contesting for
election whose supporters are campaigning round Port Harcourt city for vote.
From line 5-8: The poet also let us to know that there are other
personalities contesting for the same premiership for Crude oil. And the poet
who were travelling along the road foreseeing the site of the campaign team
regretted not stopping over.
From line 9-12: Still on stopping over to greet the said premiership
contesting league, the poet said that he would have loved to cheer them up a
bit as a way of tradition of the people of rivers state which is the treasure
base of the nation.
From line 13-16: The Poet begins
to addressing the state being Rivers State with honors like excellence in
action and contest as well as distinction in dominion and creativity.
From line 17-20: The Poet begins to attribute human quality to that
abstract state meaning a figure of speech called personification by saluting the
state’s precious diamond which are producers of Crude Oil as men of values, describing
them as strong and refined men in the furnace of competition.
From line 21-24: Still on the describing of the men of the state, the
poet relates the competition to be survival of the fittest. He also asked some
rhetoric questions about the fitness and achievement of these mighty men; and thereby
establishing their potential to be excellent.
From line 25-28: The poet then suggested that one should ask an Eleme refinery
worker those questions; describing them as seasoned champions who will not
relent in accomplishing a task to the end or root of discovery.
From line 29-32: The poet
now describes them as the oil League divers, as well as professional geologist and miners who go right deep the seas and
explore crude oil. And who are also capable of managing the economy of the
nation Nigeria. He finally said that Crude oil is the based board of the Nigeria’s
economy.
